I think that these are the kind of thing that people like to see on informational independent websites. I know I will be showing a rough edited version but the idea is to show a possibility of a scholar website. Scholar websites look and seem like knowledgable or it least very detailed looking places that seem like the website historian knows or really likes the subject. The valitity of the information however is biased or a good precent of scholar websites are not all good sources of information unless it is endorced or supported by a well known and respected website with accurate information. My website exploits the "scholar" website as alluring but should be seen as face value peice of entertaining reading and to check the facts before using them for research value.

Reflection on Online Identity Project
I think that doing a popular figure like Captain Jack Sparrow was pretty fun. I love pirates anyways and I've already done a project on Pirates of the Carribean for another class so I had plenty of information about pirates. I did however find Myspace to be rather limiting on what can be put on a webpage. I couldn't put in an interesting cursor or have music playing in the background without paying for it. It was more like a template that forces the user into very strict guidelines onto how they can express themselves. Myspace used to have open HTML windows where you could post almost any html script to change your page but I'm sure with the problems with pop-ups and all those -ware viruses its become imparative that the website designers got more limiting to what will be allowed in regards to html inserts.
Limitations of Sound
Telling stories with only sound such as a ghost story around the campfire, a podcast, or something similar where you can't see anything you can only hear about it. This means that people will use their imagination to fill in the rest of the blank. When something like that happens you will not have a consistant understanding of a situation and have many variations of how "visually" it would be translated. I prefer visual stimuli especially when being taught because then I can get a very clear understanding of what is being told to me, especially geometry. Auditory learners can probably have a better time with stories being told and things that they like to listen to such as radio stations with talk radio or "radio dramas" but all the same even there, people will have different channels within their own personal experience to determine how they process the data.
Response to Quote
“Online we are embodied and disembodied,
raceless and part of a race, gendered and not gendered.”
You can be anyone you want online. Noone can trace if you are who you say you are unless they meet you in person. I can be a black man from flordia with a shrimp boat and ten million dollars if I want to be. I wouldn't because thats lame but I COULD which is the point of this phrase.

Final Project
I don't have an idea what I want to do yet for my final project.... I did a group project about Captian Jack Sparrow and I've decided its A LOT of fun to do a thing about maybe another pirate? The only reason I say this is because there is a WHOLE lifestyle that can be represented by a 21st century pirate. A guy/girl who has a thirst for booze, theft, sex, partying, and the open sea. ALSO pirates have their own language, and the dialect would be unique to the regon to which the pirate is found in.
Other ideas include...
Marvin the Martian (for the whole outerspace aspect of understanding human technology)
Sammy Cheddar (A african male who is so obsessed with cheese that he changed his last name to cheddar... recipies.... where to find BIG cheese... events that include the focus on cheese... how to make cheese..... green bay packers are cheeseheads)
Shaggy (From Scooby Doo) .. his webspace how to find the best social spots and places where you can get legal canibis, good snack joints...
Ferris Buler (Idiots guy to get away with things.... all things website)
Casper (All things paranormal... paranormal tv... paranormal movies, objects to see ghosts, how to get ghosts to pass on, how to communicate with ghosts, casper's uncles... casper's events include hauntings, possession, and eating sweet treats.... halloween bash)

Podcast Idea
I was toying with the idea of "Family Tradgedies" for my Podcast. I have been working on a play currently called Dear, Love and its about a woman who is greiving her lost love while it causes her to have problems with her relationship with her current husband. This play is about healing and moving on. I have also recently have had issues with having my boyfriend in the hospital through two motorcycle accidents and am dealing with my aunt who has cancer. As a film student who is focusing on directing, I always find myself interested in the interactions between people and how to best portray the reality of deep emotion on camera, thus, I like to think about and analyze life senarios. Esepcially now, I think this idea I would have intimate and general knowledge I would love to pass on to people on how to get through these tough times and move forward and grow from these hard times.

The First Hundred Sentence
People could look down more and write about when we were made, come into time. No number of these who use word or will have each said they would part long with day. Go see the way out into the now. Sunshine and water did call him and her to do what may be then not now.

Technology, advancing us...or bringing us down?
I find that I only use technology for the purpose of things that normally I can do through normal interaction.
Here are some examples.
I write my paper's, do presentations, and other class homework through computer programs. I used to just write them out with paper or use colorful posters and glitter.
I used to just use a normal telephone to telephone conversation or talked in person. Now I have to result to text messaging, hearing about them through facebook or myspace or twitter, or a "scheduled cell phone conversation" based on how many minutes they have on their phone. I can only hope their plan has unlimmited minutes.
However now instead of a horse and carriage, I can fly on a plane or drive in a car to get to locations around the globe.

Dollhouse
I think that people's relationship to technology is getting very close to making mankind dependent on the stimulous of the artificial situations that people enjoy. The online identity, the digital imediate get everything you want additude and even as the dollhouse so elequently puts it, takes peoples identities fully away from themselves and can make them into other people. In the season of the Dollhouse, the woman signed away five years of her life to have her mind wiped and portay different people. I think that you don't even need your mind wiped for this process to occur. Take a person with no life and stick him in front of a computer for five years without getting to go anywhere. I bet you he will have it least 20 to 30 SNS that he or she recreates themselves on and communicates with. Sexuality online is far too motivated by instant gratification and the ability to get laid within a night. I think that the poetry of intimacy of a normal situation is taken for granted when people think everything is easily found digitally.
Mars Vs. Venus Online
I think men and women don't act any different online. I think it has way more to do with personality of the person and how they were brought into technology that helps their online identity. Online identities are very selfish and people can find themselves expressing everything they feel nessesary and not realize they are exposing themeselves. Women tend to take very racey photos of themselves for the attention of men and men take racey photos of themselves for the attention of women. People who really like different hobbies will post things about those hobbies as well as be as open as they want about their private life. Its not as much gender as it is, how brave a person is to annouce public information about themselves online. Girls may be a little more into a romanticized version of online vs men who believe online is a way to "get to things" as a more practical application.

Rasism Online
People are people, online or off. If they are a racist in person, odds are they would be interested in, or create themselves, a website or blog that leans towards their ideals and belief system of racism. Checks and balances occur online if a racist website is the cause of becoming a SNS that is dangerous or destructive towards the real community its based in, however it least in America, freedom of speech allows for racist websites to exist as is. In other countries where the government isn't a democracy, racist websites are allowed to exist at the whim of government officials. If a specific race is targeted that the government official doesn't deem worth protecting, the possible danger to that race could rise with the flourishing of anti-race propaganda and websites that gather people together to inflame the situation. The idea that people can say anything online is really a matter between us and our government, freedom of speech is circumstantial at times due to the nature of online and offline threats to different races in America.

I am pretty sure this was the homework assignment....
Since it is Valentine's Day, I used to follow a medium online for dating purposes, a SNS, called www.okcupid.com because I'm an out of state college student. (Just being honest) I found out after a few uses of the site, to meet people, that it was a place for desperate nerdy men trying to hook up with girls instead of finding and having healthy relationships.... so I stopped using it. I think that the free online dating websites probably follow the discourse communities of desperate/asshole men looking for an easy score with women and the dating websites that require you to pay for things are probably a magnet for discourse communities of honest men looking to find love. I personally have reduced my faith in this type of relationship making process.... but I know it might work for some people. I don't completely dismiss the process, I just find that the whole idea gets muddled because online communication can be misleading and I have definitely had experiences where it proven itself to be such.

Propaganda Poster
Hey Folks! This poster here is pretty much about the Communist fear that America had during WW2. In this image you see a greedy and evil looking Asian man in a Communist Uniform rubbing his hands together in a scheming fashion. The red in his hat, and the way the font of the message is written makes you think this is targeted towards the Chinese. The message that this poster is trying to say is that if you take a day off from fighting the war or take a break from being careful in your daily life, the communists will try to take advantage of that. This paints any Asian American in a bad light and can inspire fear and hatred towards that race in America. I find it incredibly racist and this poster probably came around the time they began Japanese internment camps. Scapegoating the Asain immigrants for their problems not troubles with the war and the failing economy. The symbol in the bottom corner is for the Texaco gas company. This company is probably selling fuel for the war so posters like this could help spark more trouble and more use of their gas, thus inspiring more profits for themselves.
Weapons makers, gas companies, and any other company where the products and services rise in profits during times of war probably put money into PR for these types of posters to inspire more anger, fear, or inspire men and women to keep fueling the war effort.

Elmo Dies
Tickle-Me Elmo.... fun toy for children or the next best thing for idiots to torture?
When I saw the video where Elmo gets burnned... at first I thought it was funny, the elmo laughed as the flames enveloped over its plastic body. Then I thought, man this is sick. If this was a burning human body it wouldn't be funny at all... the man would have been screaming and DYING. So this is my word, what the fuck america? Its a CHILDREN'S TOY! I know it may be annoying because you probably bought one for your child and you go to work and come home and hear that stupid red elmo laughing all night, creating a phsycosis of rage towards it, and in your head you may just want to throw it out the window, but it's a toy and it isn't going to burn you. The idea that burning a laughing toy is ok, then videos of burning humans is entertaining as well. This is desturbing. :/

Digital Native vs. Digital Immigrant
I believe I would be considered a digital native. Technology started to develop very rapidly with faster and smarter computers as I got older and the only thing I really cared about was being able to call my friends on a personal phone that I didn't have to share wtih my family and getting on social networking websites. I can definitely say I know more about technology today than my parents who still call texting "emailing" but I'm still slow to figure out how to fix my computer or any of that stuff.
